Down Under Spur Straps - movie famous strap design

These spur straps are completely handmade by D.R. Griffiths in his Arizona Leather shop. D.R. uses only the finest leathers for all of his items. This is an old "Old West" spur strap design. We grew up calling them "Dog Tongue" straps from the way they are shaped and the way they loll over the side of the boot. Of course, we have heard this design called a dozen other names through the years. Since this shape showed up in the movie "Quigley Down Under" we hear them called Quigleys and as we are calling them here "Down Unders". The name change is the same as the old hat crease that has been called a "Gus" since "Lonesome Dove". Whatever you want to call them it is a great old west style. Here is our version and we call them Down Unders. These straps are lined and pre-shaped to follow the shape of your boots. They have 2 inch conchos on the street side and 1 1/2 inch conchos on the horse side. They feature fully covered spur button holes on both ends of the the straps. The straps in the aution are dark oiled, deep walnut brown, with white stitching. The buckles are simple rounded chrome over brass 3/4 inch heel bars that allow more of the spur strap to show. The lace through buckle strap is an integral part of the spur strap and is sewn into the spur strap body. As all of our straps, great attention is made to detail. All edges are hand rounded, slicked and painted. The finish is oiled, hand rubbed and antiqued. The final top coat is air brush applied and hand rubbed.  These spur straps are sized for adult mens boots. The reach adjusts from 9 to 11 inches measured out flat from button hole to button hole. They are show here on a 9 1/2 EE width Olathe boot in the middle hole of the strap. It you have any sizing question give us a holler as some adjustment can be made.
